**DISCLAIMER: Please note that the views of our podcast guests may not always align with the views of Nutritank** This three-part series will be exploring the role of holistic care in cancer. In the second episode, Nutritank is joined with two very special guests: Sophie Trew and John Hanley. Sophie Trew was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2014 at the age of 23. With a background in journalism and a curious mind, she set to investigate how to best integrate cancer care and treatment options in a holistic way. Sophie set up ‘Trew Fields’ which is the UK’s fist cancer awareness festival and a space for holistic approaches to health. John Hanley is the face behind ‘Chemo Cookery’, a project that raises awareness on eating nutritious and delicious food during chemotherapy treatment. After being diagnosed with locally advanced prostate cancer in 2018, John began writing and sharing recipes on his blog and social media. Since then he has empowered others to utilise the tools of cooking and food in making a positive impact during their cancer treatment. In the first part of this podcast, Sophie shares her story, the inspiration behind ‘Trew Fields’ festival and tips for current medical students. In the second part of this podcast, John shares his cancer journey and the motivations for ‘Chemo Cookery’. Join us as our guests discuss what integrative medicine means to them.
